Under the Table and Dreaming
January 23rd, 2007
Yesterday was a spectacular dad day for me, and I learned some great lessons from my kiddos. I got up early to get some time on the cross bike and a short run and then Holly had the day to hike, do some Yoga, and spend some coffee time with her girlfriends.
It was game on for me and the three kiddos. It was a fantastic day. We ran some errands and then headed over to the Boulder Rock Gym. We hung out there for four hours. Ava got to chill in the back pack and Asher and Emma got to climb. The kids were having so much fun… it was pure, good, clean fun and it was inspiring to see. Sometimes as adults we just forget to have fun. There are so many things to do and so little time. But, we got to remember to let the kid in us out from time to time. It’s a good thing.
Later on, after reading the kiddos a few bed time books, Emma had enough and was ready to hit the sack. I took her up to bed and she looked at me and said, “Dad, I am ready to dream nowâ€. She rolled over and I could hear her quietly recounting the day’s events before drifting off. I can’t remember the last time I put my head down to dream… I usually hit the sack and start thinking about what I need to get done the following day. Tonight, I am going to try to roll over and just dream!
